BERT WILLIAM
NEVINS "BOMPA" Dad was a wonderful father, grandfather and
great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully on April 2, 2006 in Redmond, WA
with his family by his side. Born on August 29, 1914 in Alberta, Canada, he
spent his childhood in Girard, IL. After graduating from Eureka College in
Illinois, where he played football, was a member of the swim team and TKE
fraternity, he moved to Puyallup, WA. Bert was very active there holding many
lifetime organization affiliations including Kiwanis, Afifi Shrine, Jesters,
Scottish Rite Masonic Society (past master), Elks and Lynden Golf and Country
Club. After spending numerous years working as a salesman for Hamachek Machine
Company, and running Bert Nevins Sporting Goods Store, he retired. Not being
one to sit idle, he took on a new challenge working for Harry Corliss until
again, he retired at age 87. The years spent working at the Puyallup Fair
(where he took his children and grandchildren each year), were some of his
happiest times. You could always find Bert involved in community activities
such as volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital in the rehabilitation center or
serving coffee with Kiwanis at rest stops. Bert enjoyed many hobbies including
spending time fishing with friends and grandchildren, swimming, walking,
golfing, gardening and bird watching as well as spending time with family. He
will be remembered, terribly missed, and always loved by his two daughters
Sandra Craig (son-in-law Eugene Craig), Betsy Homes, his grandchildren Jason
(Gina, great grandchildren Katelyn and Jack), Brad (Hilary), Rod (Lena), Blake,
Michelle and Nicholas (Jennifer). Dad ("Bompa"), was a great source
of strength and wisdom to all of us. He took pride in traditions and times that
he knew as a boy, yet was quick to embrace new ideas and welcomed the future
with joy. Dad will always be a man to look up to and we think those who knew
him would agree that his heart holds the strength of a lifetime. "You will
be deeply missed. Thank you for a lifetime of love. May you be as happy in
heaven as you were with us. For all you were, and all you did – we love you!"

Sister Jenny Hartle
On January 4th, 2007, God welcomed Elizabeth Genevieve (Jenny) Hartle. Jenny was born on March 10th, 1908. As a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed having all her children and grandchildren near her home in Puyallup. Jenny was always active in many groups and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Naomi Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and The Rhododendron Court Order of the Amaranth. Life was full and very busy and her zest for living created a legacy for her family to remember with love. She leaves behind four children, Waunita Preston (David), Warren Hartle (Judy), Bill Hartle (Barbara) and Dorothy Munsey (Gale), as well as 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. As one of her very wise seven year old great-grandchildren said "Grandma is not gone, cause she will always be in our hearts with us." Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate our mother's life and to rejoice in her new life, Saturday, January 13th at 11:00AM at the First Christian Church of Puyallup. |
